How do I create a VPN connection to my office?

  1. Click Start
  2. Right Click Connect To
  3. Select Open
  4. In left hand panel select Create new connection
  5. Wizard will open, Click Next
  6. Tick the Radio button labelled Connect to the network at my workplace, click next
  7. Select Virtual Private Network connection, click Next.
  8. Enter a name so you’ll know where this VPN is going.

  9. Select Do not dial the initial connection, Click Next

  10. Enter the internet hostname for your site. EG: vpn.kingcomputer.com.au
Check with your network administrator if you don’t know it. Click Next

  11. Click Finish

By default, a VPN connection will try to route ALL traffic through the VPN tunnel.  Again, check with your company’s network administrator if you’re not sure but in most cases you’ll want to turn this off. To do that, follow on.

  1. Click Start
  2. Right Click Connect To
  3. Select open
  4. Right Click on Virtual Private network with the name you create in step 8 of previous section.
  5. Select Properties.
  6. Click Networking Tab at top.
  7. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Click Properties.

  8. Click the Advanced Button.
  9. Remove Tick from “Use default Gateway on Remote networkâ€

  10. Click OK
  11. Click OK
  12. Click OK

You can now use your VPN connection.

  1. Click Start
  2. Move Mouse over Connect to.
  3. Click on VPN name that you created.
  4. Enter User Name
  5. Enter Password
  6. Click Connect.
