Configuring external SPA942 IP SIP phone with 3CX

The instructions “How can I use the 3CX Tunnel with a SIP hardphone?”

on the 3cx site at http://www.3cx.com/support/3cx-tunnel.html are DUD – IGNORE THEM.

If you want to configure a SIP hardphone the default tunnelling port is 5090, not 5080. To see the Proxy and Registration settings as shown below on the SPA 942 in the admin setting select advanced on the top right.

For the proxy set the address of the internal 3cx VOIP server.

For the outbound proxy, set it to the public IP address of the server e.g. voip.mycompany.com.au:5090
